Symposium offers government contract opportunities

FORT MYERS — Companies seeking opportunities to work with local government and state agencies will have a chance to learn about opportunities and make their pitches at the third annual Southwest Florida Government Contracting Symposium 9 a.m. to noon July 20, in Building U-102 at Florida SouthWestern State College. 

The free event will provide insight into government contracting and identify resources that align with businesses, according to a statement. More than 20 exhibitors will present government subcontracting opportunities. Breakout sessions will be held on topics such as how to successfully do business with government entities, tips for effective proposal writing and how to navigate a vendor bid system, the release adds. 

Vendors will include the cities of Bonita Springs, Cape Coral and Fort Myers; economic development offices of Collier and Lee counties and the City of Cape Coral; Florida departments of environmental protection, management services and transportation; Lee County Economic Development Office, Port Authority and Procurement Management; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Veterans Affairs, Small Business Administration and Special Operations Command; School District of Lee County; Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Southwestern State College and more.
