The Sarasota branch of Suffolk Construction was awarded a $19.2 million contract to build a fitness center for the U.S. Marine Corps this week.

Michael Beaumier, the Sarasota-based vice president of Suffolk's federal government group, will oversee the construction of a 100,000-square-foot fitness facility at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

“Our team has been working hard to expand Suffolk's presence with the Federal government throughout the Southeast,” Beaumier said in a statement. “This is our second contract with the Navy this year, and hopefully the beginning of a long relationship.”

Suffolk Construction's corporate headquarters are located in Boston, Mass. The company generated $1.7 billion in revenue in 2009.
