CLEARWATER — A privately held Missouri company has acquired ONICON Inc., a Clearwater-based manufacturer of energy measurement systems and metering devices, says Marvin Feldman, president of ONICON, in a statement.
Harbour Group, based in St. Louis, bought the Pinellas County company for an undisclosed price, Feldman says. “Partnering with Harbour Group and benefitting from their global resources will enable us to fortify our leading position in the HVAC market and enhance our position in additional markets."
Founded in 1987, OMICON produces devices such as BTU meters and turbine, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, thermal mass, and vortex flow meters for use in water-based heating and cooling systems, as well as products for gas and compressed air applications.
"ONICON's proprietary technology enables building controls contractors, controls design engineers, and building owners and operators to address key concerns about energy cost and environmental impact by maximizing the efficiency of their HVAC systems," says Jeff Fox, Harbour Group's chairman and CEO, in the release. In addition to ONICON's products, Harbour Group was also impressed by its customer service, says Fox.
Harbour Group will support ONICON's acquisition-related and organic growth efforts with its resources, adds Fox. Harbour Group and its companies are engaged in manufacturing, distribution, and other services in a number of diverse industries. Their products and services range from boiler systems and diamond-cutting products to diagnostic tools, LED systems, and decorative kitchen and bath hardware. Since its founding in 1976, Harbour Group has acquired 172 companies in 37 different industries.
