TAMPA — Spirit Airlines' long anticipated expansion at Tampa International Airport begins today, with the first of four nonstop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth.
Spirit has served the Tampa area since 1996. It currently flies nonstop from Tampa to Atlantic City, Detroit and Ft. Lauderdale, averaging four nonstop flights per day. The Tampa-Dallas/Fort Worth flights, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, are expected to increase traffic between the two airports by 50,000 passengers per year, according to a release.
Spirit posted a limited-time offer of a one-way fare of $28.79 to promote the launch of the flight. That's a $9 base fare, plus taxes and fees.
