BUYER: Shoot Straight Tampa Holding Co. LLC (principal: Khaled Akkawi), Apopka

SELLER: Elwana Gage surviving spouse of Richard Gage

PROPERTY: 3901 N. U.S. 301, Tampa

PRICE: $685,000

PREVIOUS PRICE: $165,000, April 1997

TITLE FIRM ON DEED: Fidelity National Title Insurance Co., Tampa

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Apopka-based Shoot Straight, a chain of gun stores and shooting ranges, purchased 2.58 acres for $685,000.

The price equated to $265,504 per acre.

The property, on U.S. 301 just south of State Road 574, is next to the company's existing gun store/shooting range at 3909 N. U.S. 301. It plans to use the land for more parking spaces.

“We have 60 spaces at our existing facility, but our business has just exceeded our expectations,” says company owner Khaled Akkawi. “This should allow us another 120 spaces. We will initially use it for our employees and for customers as we fill up our [existing] lot.”

The Tampa facility has been open for three years.

Shoot Straight currently has five stores, including locations in Apopka, Casselberry, Fort Myers, Lakeland and Tampa. A sixth location in Palm Beach is scheduled to open in November.

The company mortgaged the property to Commerce National Bank & Trust for $479,500.
