TAMPA — Sequa Corp. added Thomas Churbuck to its board of directors this week. Sequa is a diversified company headquartered in Tampa, with operations in jet-engine repair, automotive-accessory manufacturing and metallurgy.

Sequa is owned by The Carlyle Group, which bought Syniverse Technologies Inc. — another Tampa firm — for $2.6 billion late last year.

Churbuck is a managing partner at AeroEquity LLC, an investment firm based in Boca Raton that focuses on the aerospace, energy, and defense industries. In 1998, he founded Power Systems Manufacturing LLC, and led the firm as CEO until it was sold to Alstom, a multibillion-dollar French company, in 2007.

Chromalloy, a Sequa Corp. subsidiary, broke ground on a new $5 million manufacturing facility in Tampa earlier this month.
