Sarasota to spend $376K on jobs

SARASOTA -- Sarasota County commissioners could approve up to $376,000 on new spending in the form of incentives for companies promising to bring jobs to the area.

More on each of the three companies:

• Laser Rite Technologies Inc. is an office supply company specializing in printer service and sales. The company has 22 full-time employees, and has been operating in Sarasota County for 20 years. County commissioners could approve up to $40,000 in incentives for Laser Rite, in exchange for 12 new jobs paying $32,400 in annual wages, plus a $136,000 capital investment in its toner cartridge manufacturing operations.

• Enzymedica Inc. manufactures and sells homeopathic enzyme supplements. Currently based in Port Charlotte, the company is offering to relocate to Sarasota, bringing 72 new jobs paying an average annual wage of $41,460 with it. The company also promises a capital investment of $850,000. Commissioners could approve up to $216,000 in incentives for Enzymedica, which bought a 41,200-square-foot flex building on Commerce Drive in Venice for $1.38 million last week.

• MGM Investment Properties LLC, also known as VistaServ, builds, distributes, and services specialized commercial kitchen equipment, cleaning solutions, and supplies used in the hospitality industry throughout Florida. The company currently employs 33 full-time workers, 23 of which are located in Sarasota County. The company says it will create another 30 jobs, and make a capital investment of roughly $2.6 million, in exchange for up to $120,000 in incentives.
