SARASOTA — Kathy Baylis, founding president and CEO of the Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County, will retire from her current positions in June 2011, the EDC board announced today.
Baylis has spent the past 15 years working to grow Sarasota's economy.
Her work for Sarasota County began in 1995, when she was named an assistant director for the Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce's Committee of 100. Nine years later, she led the independent launch of the county's EDC.
The EDC board has already begun its search for the organization's next CEO.
