SARASOTA — Plymouth Harbor, one of the largest Continuing Care Retirement Communities in the Sarasota area, named Beth Watson vice president of philanthropy.

The onetime head of marketing and public relations at the Providence Public Library in Rhode Island, Watson has two decades fundraising experience, according to a statement. She helped organize a $2 million capital campaign at the library, among other roles.

Watson began her career at USA Today in advertising. She later helped launch Rhode Island’s only children’s bereavement center, Friends Way, the release states. She also held fundraising executive roles at Children’s Friend and Services, Redwood Library, and most recently, the Sisters of Mercy, a group of Roman Catholic women committed to serving and advocating for those in need, the release adds.

Founded in 1966, Plymouth Harbor, on Sarasota Bay, has more than 300 employees who serve some 330 residents.
