PUNTA GORDA -- Passenger traffic at Charlotte County Airport (PGD) increased 60% from 2010 to 2011, with 291,626 total passenger departures and arrivals, according to the Charlotte County Airport Authority.
The airport's busiest airline is Direct Air, which 177,929 total passenger departures and arrivals in 2011, up 53% from 2010 traffic of 116,507. The other major airline, Allegiant Air, saw a 70% increase, with 111,952 total passenger departures and arrivals in 2011.
Traffic in 2011 is up 126% from 2009, when 129,025 passengers travelled through Charlotte County Airport.
