VENICE — PGT Inc., the Venice-based window and door manufacturer, bought the intellectual property of The Hurricane Window and Door Factory last Friday, roughly a year after acquiring the Fort Myers firm's operating assets in August 2009.

Both transactions centered on one specific line of Factory products — the PremierVue impact-resistant vinyl window, which appeals to PGT's target market, according to CEO Rod Hershberger.

“PGT's core residential business continues to focus on the impact coastal markets,” Hershberger said in a release.

PGT Industries is a publicly traded company (symbol: PGTI) that produces impact-resistant doors and windows. Earlier this month, the firm spent $7 million to move 300 jobs from North Carolina to Venice.
