× A.J. Long has joined VenVest Inc. as chief financial officer. Recently, Long was CFO of Unifi Network, a global outsourcing and consulting business based in Atlanta.

× Miles Christian-Hart has been selected to represent Florida on the new Presidential Business Commission for the National Republican Congressional Committee. Christian-Hart's selection was based on his contribution as an honorary chairman of the party's business advisory council.

× Susan Young of I've Been Framed by Susan Young Inc. won third in a statewide framing competition. The annual competition was sponsored by the Professional Picture Framers Association.

× John Anderson, owner of Pastry Arta on Main Street, is the newest vendor at the Downtown Farmers' Market. Anderson sells a variety of pastries from his store.

× Jordan Cassie, a leasing agent with Sarasota Commercial Management, is the new assistant market manager for the Downtown Farmer's Market.

× Ronald Shapo has joined the firm of Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell PA as of counsel in the real estate practice group. Formerly, Shapo was a partner and member of the executive committee of Broad & Cassel.

× Katherine Moulton, president and general manager of the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort, was named the first Tourism Leader of the Year by the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 2001, Moulton was named Independent Hotelier of the World by HOTELS magazine.

Finance

× Diane Lawson, director of marketing with Sarasota Commercial Management Inc., has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute.

× Adam Smith, a financial adviser with Morgan Keegan, was named market manager for the Downtown Farmer's Market. Keegan relocated from Indiana.
