ESTERO — Car rental giant Hertz named Rick Frecker executive vice president and general counsel.

Frecker has been the company's acting general counsel since April, according to a statement. He joined the company in 2008, and previously served as vice president and deputy general counsel. In that role he oversaw all corporate securities matters, corporate compliance and was head legal counsel on treasury and corporate development activities. He also oversaw legal activities related to the company's franchise agreements.

"Rick has performed exceptionally throughout his eight years with the company and is held in high regard throughout our organization," Hertz President and CEO John Tague says in the statement. "Heading our general counsel office over the past several months, Rick has proven himself extremely capable, leading complex transactions, such as the separation of our equipment rental business, while also providing valued counsel to the senior leadership team.”
