FORT MYERS — Revenues at lodgings in Lee County rose 11% in November compared with the same month in 2012 as the tourism season began strongly.
Revenue per available room, an important financial gauge that combines occupancy and average daily rate, rose 11% to $62.50 in November, according to Smith Travel data published by the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau. November is the latest data available.
Occupancies drove revenues higher in November as the average daily rate only increased slightly. Occupancies rose to 58.1% in November, up from 53.5% in November 2012. But the average daily rate rose just 2.2% to $107.59 in the same period.
Despite the sharp increase in occupancies, hoteliers report ongoing price competition.
