FORT MYERS — Hotels in Lee County reported that revenue per available room rose 17% in February to $130.85 compared with the same month a year ago.
Revenue per available room is a function of average occupancy and daily room rate. The Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau says the average occupancy at area hotels rose 9% in February to 80% and the average daily rate rose 7.2% to $163.17.
The survey of 93 hoteliers in February shows the hotel industry is experiencing a significant rebound in both occupancies and rates compared with the same month a year ago. Most hoteliers surveyed reported a higher level of reservations from March to May than during the same period last year.
