Kingsway Country Club agrees to purchase by Allegiant
Allegiant plans to add golf to its Sunseeker Resort experience with the purchase of Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy.
Kingsway members, in a June 30 vote, accepted Allegiant’s purchase offer for a sale expected to close in August. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Established in 1976, Kingsway Country Club is a par-72 course with an 18,000-square foot-clubhouse that includes a golf shop, dining and event facilities. The club, in Desoto County, just over the Charlotte County line, will continue operations as Kingsway Country Club, including all member services, and will be incorporated into the Sunseeker Resorts brand. About a 10-minute drive from the Harbor-Peace River waterfront resort, the club will likely become a private play club when the resort is completed.
Richins, now is based in Las Vegas but planning to relocate to Charlotte County once Sunseeker development is underway, says a visit to the club was planned the week of July 9 to meet with employees and tour the facilities. "The intent is to take the existing asset, make improvement, and really concentrate on the trajectory of what is already a wonderful product to make it even better,” says Richins.
