When Kast Construction starts work this summer in downtown Sarasota on The Mark, a mixed-use project slated to contain 157 residences, retail and office space, it will mark the 25th project the firm has built on behalf of developer The Kolter Group.
Since that auspicious start in 2003, Kast has helped bring $930 million worth of projects to life, totaling 8.2 million square feet, firm President Michael Neal says. Its other projects include the Vue Sarasota Bay in downtown Sarasota and One St. Petersburg, in that city's downtown.
In all, 1,447 residences, 1,643 hotel rooms and 404 multifamily units have been constructed.
Not surprisingly, perhaps, Neal also notes that more than 28,000 cubic yards of concrete has gone into those jobs, along with 3.4 million pounds of reinforcing steel and 800,000 pounds of cable.
