TAMPA — College Hunks Hauling Junk, a locally based national junk removal business, plans to launch a franchise expansion program in California.

Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman, college students and friends, founded College Hunks in 2003. They started in a borrowed van, using the business for extra spending money. They have since opened a franchise unit, which covers 40 markets in 24 states. The company has a presence in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas and Los Angeles, among other cities.

The firm now seeks franchisees for San Francisco and Northern California. “We already have customer demand in California,” Franchise Development Director Jason Killough said in a press release. “We receive numerous requests for service at our call center on a daily basis.”
