JPMorgan Chase gives HCC grant for welding program

TAMPA — JPMorgan Chase has award Hillsborough Community College a grant to expanded its welding training program. The college received the $250,000 grant for it's Ybor City Campus Training Center and plans to open the weekend training program to 40 students.

The grant is part of JPMorgan Chase's New Skills at Work Initiative, aimed at helping to fill future worker talent gaps.

Welding is a high-demand skill across the state, and a projected 5,000 new welders are needed statewide through 2019. The median salary for a welder is $39,000.
