TAMPA — Ironhack, a technology education company that specializes in “coding bootcamps,” has opened a hybrid campus in Tampa that will provide a mix of in-person and remote learning.

To celebrate its Tampa expansion, Ironhack, according to a news release, will offer $1,000 scholarships to five lucky students who apply for its next cohort. No prior tech knowledge nor training is required for eligibility.

Ironhack, the release states, offers courses in web development, UX/UI design and data analytics. Since it launched in 2015, the Miami-based company has helped more than 10,000 students around the world change careers and learn high-paying tech skills.

"Miami was our first U.S. campus,” states Lisa Nuessle, Ironhack’s senior growth lead, in the release. “With its success, it’s clear that we can continue supporting other major markets to increase the tech talent. The future of the workforce is hybrid. Structuring our cohorts for flexibility supports career changers of all types, like those with constraints in commuting, child care and illness. Hybrid allows students to get the best of both worlds and replicate the modern workforce.”

In January 2021, according to the release, Ironhack secured $20 million in a Series B round led by Lumos Capital; the additional funds allowed it to expand its remote programs and enterprise training services. The company has since partnered with more than 600 employers worldwide to help its graduates find good jobs.

“I have had wonderful success since completing Ironhack’s bootcamp,” states Adam Lopez, an Ironhack graduate who works in Tampa as a web developer, in the release. “It put me and my family at a point I could have never dreamed of working as a retail manager for Publix. Switching careers was one of the best things I could have done in my professional career. I have Ironhack and all the developers I’ve learned from my cohort to thank.”
