Health insurance giant targets area for hiring surge

Humana seeks to fill 100 sales positions in Tampa.

TAMPA — In anticipation of Medicare’s open enrollment period that begins in mid-October, health insurance provider Humana plans to add 100 employees at its call center in Tampa.

The telesales agents, according to a press release, will be responsible for phone sales and enrollment assistance for Humana’s Medicare plans and other specialty products. They will also respond to inquiries from existing Humana Medicare Advantage members.

New hires will start work in June, the release states. Applicants should have at least a high school diploma or GED. Humana says job seekers who speak Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese or Polish are strongly encouraged to apply.

Humana, the release states, will pay for successful applicants to obtain their health insurance license; the company will also pay for in-depth certification and sales training.
