Hospital ranks high
in survey
Modern Healthcare magazine's annual best places to work list has a new number one hospital: Doctors Hospital of Sarasota.
The hospital came in second overall in the 2009 survey, which ranked 317 healthcare companies nationwide and was released Oct. 30. The survey was open to any company in the healthcare industry with at least 25 employees.
The magazine polled both employers and employees for the survey, asking questions relating to topics such as corporate culture and communications; training and development; leadership and planning; and pay and benefits. Doctors Hospital, which is owned by HCA, Inc. one of the largest hospital operating firms in the country, scored a rating of 94% in the survey.
A total of 11 Florida-based healthcare companies made the magazine's top 100 list, including JSA Healthcare in St. Petersburg, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in eastern Manatee County and Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
