TAMPA -- The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. named Rick Homans its new president and CEO on Friday.

Homans comes to Tampa from New Mexico, where he served as past cabinet secretary of the state's Economic Development Department and Taxation and Revenue Department. He also has experience as a business journalist and company founder; in 1993 he created the New Mexico Business Weekly, then sold it to American City Business Journals in 2001.

Keith Norden, who served as the president and CEO of the organization since October 2009, is now the EDC's executive vice president.

The Tampa Hillsborough EDC attracted $120 million in new capital investments to the Tampa Bay area in 2011, according to an organizational statement.
