NAPLES — Health Management Associates promoted Melody Trimble to oversee 26 hospitals in seven states as president of the company's southern and western group.
The Naples-based hospital operator operates 70 hospitals in non-urban communities around the U.S. Trimble was promoted from her position as market CEO of HMA's Sparks Health System and Summit Medical Center in Arkansas. She replaces Joe Pinion, who recently announced his retirement.
Trimble will report to HMA president and CEO Gary Newsome.
“Melody has been a successful leader throughout her career at Health Management, most recently by growing Sparks into the thriving health system it is today,” Newsome says in a statement. “With her nursing background, she understands the vital role nurses play in working with physicians to provide high-quality care with a human touch to our patients, and now she can bring that perspective to a larger group of our hospitals.”
Previous to Sparks, Trimble held executive positions at various HMA hospitals since she joined the company in 1991, including as CEO of Venice Regional Medical Center.
