TAMPA — Syniverse, a telecommunications technology company based in Tampa, named Jeffrey S. Gordon its new president and CEO this morning, effective July 1. Gordon will replace Tony Holcombe, who will be made vice chairman of Syniverse's board of directors, according to a release.
Gordon is the current chief operating officer at Syniverse, and has been with the firm since 2008. In the past, he has held senior-level positions with Convergys, Bell Atlantic, and IBM.
Holcombe had been in place as the firm's chief executive since 2006.
In January, Syniverse was acquired by The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm, for $2.6 billion. Prior to the deal, its 2010 revenues had been estimated at roughly $633 million.
Syniverse provides mobile data connections for more than 900 mobile communications operators, with business operations in more than 160 countries. Earlier this year, the Tampa-based firm delivered video messaging to customers of Korea Telecom.
