Georgia bank names new Tampa Bay market president

Cadence Bank veteran John Acosta has been tapped to lead Synovus Bank’s local operations.

TAMPA — John Acosta, a former Cadence Bank executive, has joined Synovus Bank as Tampa Bay market president.

According to a news release, Acosta brings more than three decades of banking experience to his new role at Columbus, Georgia-based Synovus Bank. In 2012, he joined Cadence Bank, where he most recently served as executive vice president and head of business banking. Prior to Cadence, he worked for Regions Bank, primarily in its west coast Florida markets.

He is deeply committed to the financial and economic health of the Tampa Bay region, and we look forward to leveraging his expertise as we work to enable our customers and communities to reach their full potential.” 

Synovus Bank’s parent company, Synovus Financial Corp. (NYSE: SNV), reported $2.09 billion in 2021, up from $1.66 billion in 2020 — an increase of 26%.
