FORT MYERS — Gates-Haskell, a joint venture between Gates Construction and The Haskell Co., was awarded the construction management contract for a $27 million project in Fort Myers.

The job is a 205,000-square-foot facility to be used by both the Lee Memorial Healthcare System and by Sarasota Memorial. The LeeSar Regional Service Center will be the base of operations for the two systems' cooperative efforts, and will be used to distribute supplies, repackage pharmaceuticals and process sterilized surgical instruments.

According to its contract, Gates-Haskell will plan, schedule and manage the service center's construction. The facility is scheduled to open in July 2012.

Todd Gates was named the Business Review's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007. His company has offices in Bonita Springs, and in Panama. The Haskell Co. operates in Jacksonville, Dallas, and Mexico City.
