FORT MYERS — In March, 1,073,556 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport. That total is the second largest in the airport's history, according to a prepared statement.
Last month's traffic is up 7.7% from March 2010, and it is the fourth time traffic has exceeded 1 million passengers. Through the first three months of 2011, traffic is up 4.3%.
The Lee County Port Authority says Southwest Florida International Airport is one of the 50 busiest airports in the United States in terms of passenger traffic. In January, the airport became the first in Florida to offer nonstop service to Denmark.
