Sarasota County releases its

resource "Footprint"

Sarasota County released a study on the county's use of resources. The study found that residents use 22.2 acres per person. That amount is below the U.S. average of 23.7 acres per person - the highest in the world. Comparatively, Germany uses 10.5 acres per person.

Sarasota County moves to 2nd in

providing digital information

The Center for Digital Government conducted its annual digital counties survey and Sarasota County moved to second place from sixth. The survey judges how county governments across the country use technology to improve their delivery of services to citizens. Johnson County, Kansas, and Prince William County, Virginia, tied for first place.

Sarasota selects GravityFree

for Governor's Innovation Award

Sarasota Committee For Economic Development selected GravityFree, a Sarasota-based Web site developer, as a nominee for the 2004 Governor's Innovation Award. The award is part of the Business Diversification Awards presented annually by Gov. Jeb Bush and Enterprise Florida.

In other news, Gravity Free launched a new Web site for SinoFresh HealthCare Inc., which develops and markets products that help consumers mitigate chronic health problems. The renovated Web site, www.sinofresh.com, has content updates and a back-end data-management system as well as visitor opt-in functions and layout upgrades designed to make information easier to find.

Coastal Bahavioral receives

prestigious Negley award

Coastal Behavioral Healthcare has received the prestigious Negley Chairman's Award, a national award based on excellence in risk management. The award was the culmination of a study conducted at Coastal's Kreisman Center Crisis Stabilization Unit titled, "Medication Variations Performance Improvement Project 2002-2003."

Sonitrol introduces global

access to security systems

Sonitrol of Sarasota has developed mySonitrol.com, a Web site that allows customers global computer access to view live video from security cameras on their properties. Sonitrol's secure Web portal allows customers to log into a secure Web site and access their security system.

Marketing by Design

lands national account

Marketing by Design has been selected by ATA Black Belt Academy, the nation's largest martial arts association, as their national advertising agency of record. Marketing by Design will provide marketing and creative services for the company's licensees and national organization.
