Real estate giant

speaks to women's club

Michael Saunders spoke at the Oaks Country Club to more than 50 people, at the seminar "Understanding Finance - It's More than Money" for the Oaks Residences Women's Club.

The objective of the club is to educate women on topics such as investments, new estate laws, tax and investment planning and charitable gifts. Saunders spoke about the explosion of growth along the West Coast, the pricing differences in the surrounding counties, inventory levels and how real estate can affect your tax basis.

She also addressed the value of weighing in and speaking out during the 2050 process and Duany downtown master plan, and she stressed the importance of Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence as the vehicle to take Sarasota from a great community to a "wow" community.

Sunshine Pack & Ship

opens store in Longwood

Bradenton-based Sunshine Pack & Ship opened a store in Longwood. John Davies and Jim Swingley will be responsible for selling and supporting franchise stores in Seminole, Volusia and Orange counties.

Students receive scholarships

from builders foundation

Tyler MacDonald and Aron Hutchins, seniors at Manatee Technical Institute, have received $500 scholarships from the Florida Home Builders Foundation and Sarasota Home Builders Association.

The winners were announced at Florida Home Builders Association's spring board meeting in Tallahassee. Both young men participated in Hurricane Charley cleanup efforts in Arcadia. They also helped design and present a renovation for the Manatee County Tax Collector's kitchen and conference rooms, eventually a community service project for the Carpentry Program.

New professional women's

Group starts in Venice

Rebecca Huntley of Edward Jones started the Venice Women's Networking Group. The group helps professional women in the Venice community expand their business and community recognition and to further their business through word-of-mouth marketing.
