selects Wendt Productions
Clearwater's SouthCoast Marine Products selected Wendt Productions to develop a branding and identity campaign for its marine division and related companies.
SouthCoast, a business led by three brothers - Kevin, Rick and Steve Cureton - manufactures stainless steel parts primarily for the marine, military and medical industries. Affiliated companies include Kodiak Anchors, SouthCoast Laser Works and General Hydraulic Solutions.
Sarasota company
offering Segway tours
According to the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau, Sarasota is scheduled to be the first tourist destination to offer guided tours on Segway Human Transporters. Florida Ever-Glides Inc. has announced it will offer two-hour tours on state-of-the-art electric-powered transportation devices that start this December. Tours of downtown Sarasota, along the bayfront and arts communities, will run $59 per person with a maximum of six riders per tour. Florida Ever-Glides Inc. is owned by Tom Jacobson. The Segways are the first self-balancing devices designed as an alternative to short-distance car trips. They can reach a maximum of 12.5 mph and can be used in pedestrian areas.
American Signature Home
opens Carrollwood location
American Signature Home, a home manufacturer and retailer, opened a second Tampa location at Carrollwood Commons, 15018 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
The Columbus, Ohio-based company, with 15 stores nationally, already has a location at Brandon Town Center. It now has six Florida locations.
American Signature manufactures its own furniture, accessories and mattresses.
Stephen A. Smith firm
gains two new clients
Sarasota-based Stephen A. Smith & Associates has recently been named Advertising Agency of Record for two Sarasota companies: The Asthma & Allergy Research Center, and Albritton Fruit Co. The agency will provide a variety of marketing communications services for each client. The Asthma & Allergy Research Center is a medical research clinic, dedicated to the study of new and existing medications for allergy and asthma sufferers. Albritton Fruit Co. is a grower and marketer of citrus fruit. The agency was chosen to develop print and electronic media plans and promotions for Albritton's seven retail stores.
Hy-Tech Technology Group
forms new division
Fort Myers-based Hy-Tech Technology Group is targeting small- to medium-sized businesses through a new division that will focus on delivering productions and solutions. Details are still being worked out, but the company, founded in 1992, claims it built customized computer systems before the idea became popular in the industry.
Sarasota CED
wins excellence award
The Sarasota County Committee for Economic Development received the 2002-2003 Award of Excellence from the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) recently at the group's annual meeting held at the Kennedy Space Center. SATOP helps Florida businesses solve difficult engineering problems by providing expertise from NASA and contractors such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Sarasota County businesses that have used the program include Sunguard Shade Structures and The Winsulator. SATOP contracts with an organization in each Florida county to inform businesses about the assistance program. The Award of Excellence goes to the best overall performing organization among SATOP's network of partners.
Pilot Air Freight reports
increase in Tampa revenue
Pilot Air Freight, an international company, reported a 15.5% increase in revenue for its Tampa station during the third quarter. The transportation and logistics service provider's Tampa location handled 2,212 shipments, totaling about 1.4 million pounds in the three months ended Sept. 30.
Tampa station owner Carol Sanford says the growth is due to increased demand from the printed materials and telephone equipment segments. Pilot employs eight people at a 4,000-square-foot Tampa location.
People's Community Bancshares
issues stock dividend
People's Community Bancshares, the parent company of People's Community Bank, has announced plans to issue a 10% stock dividend to all shareholders of record as of Jan. 1, 2004. Company officials attribute the stock dividend to the financial success the bank has achieved during the past four years of operation.
