FORT MYERS — Four Lee Physician Group primary care clinics became the first pediatric outpatient offices in Florida designated platinum-level "Asthma-Friendly" by the Florida Asthma Coalition. It is the highest level of recognition the coalition awards for outpatient centers that create a healthy environment for patients with asthma, according to a statement.

Pediatric clinics in Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres each met criteria designed to improve asthma care and outcomes for patients. The criteria to achieve platinum-level recognition include:

• Professional development for nurses and respiratory therapists on asthma management;

• Professional development for physicians on asthma management;

• Team-based approach for efficient, comprehensive and patient-centered care that aligns services;

• Asthma action plans for children with persistent asthma; and

• Self-management education that meets the national EPR-3 guidelines for asthma diagnosis and management.

"We are proud and honored to be the first pediatric clinics in Florida to earn an asthma-friendly designation,” says LPG Chief Administrative Officer Kris Fay in the statement. “LPG is committed to being a leader for the advancement of health and healing and to help our patients receive the care they need to build happier, healthier lives.”
