Foundation names four new board members

The New College Foundation is the philanthropic organization supporting New College of Florida.

SARASOTA — New College Foundation’s board of directors has named four new members — Janene Amick, Beverly Bartner, Susan Burns and Renee Hamad. 

The New College Foundation is the philanthropic organization supporting New College of Florida.

Sue Jacobson, chair of the board of directors, says in a statement the new members “embody the spirit of the community and bring decades of leadership, expertise and energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have them join our team and confident they will provide valuable perspectives as we continue to support the mission and needs of New College.” 

Amick is the CEO of the Manatee Performing Arts Center. Her experience spans the arts, marketing, corporate entrepreneurship and nonprofit management, the release states. Bartner is a Broadway producer and former teacher. She is also the co-chair of the “Leading with Care” campaign for the Cancer Institute at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Burns is the editor in chief of Sarasota Magazine. She is a graduate of New College. Hamad is a humanitarian, philanthropist and community volunteer, the release states. 

New College of Florida educates offers 35 undergraduate majors and a master’s degree program in data science. Its 110-acre campus in Sarasota is home to about 800 students and 80 full-time faculty.
