FORT MYERS -- Prices for homes in the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metropolitan statistical area increased 4% between November 2011 and the same month in the prior year, according to CoreLogic.

But while the one Southwest Florida metro saw gains, other nearby areas saw prices decrease. In Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, prices decreased by 7.9% over the year, CoreLogic estimates, while in North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota prices were down 6.5%.

Statewide, Florida home prices fell 3.7% between November 2011 and the same month in the prior year, CoreLogic says. Despite the decrease, however, that price change is actually less severe than the national average decline of 4.3%.

In terms of rank, Florida was 19th in terms of price change, between Massachusetts (-3.8%) and Wyoming (-3.4%). Nevada saw the most steep decrease in prices over the year, with an 11.2% decrease.
