FORT MYERS — Former Victoria's Secret executive Cynthia Fields has joined the board of directors of women's retailer Chico's FAS.

Fields was president and CEO of Victoria's Secret Direct from 1986 to 2000, the lingerie and apparel company's catalog operations. From 2001 to 2014, Fields owned and operated CFC Consulting, focusing on direct marketing for retailers.

“She brings deep and multifaceted merchandising and marketing expertise to our board, having developed a world-renowned direct retail brand that remains an industry leader and consulted for many distinguished brands,” says David Walker, chairman of Chico's, in a statement. “Her leadership and strategic perspectives will be valuable to our board as we further cultivate and grow our portfolio of brands.”

Fort Myers-based Chico's operates 1,548 stores under the Chico's, White House | Black Market and Soma brands. The company recently announced it will close its Boston Proper stores and sell the catalog brand it acquired in 2011.
