CAPE CORAL — A husband-and-wife team recently signed a franchise agreement with Discovery Point Child Development Centers to open a new childcare center in Cape Coral.

The center will be owned and operated by Roger Clough and Robin Clough, with construction scheduled to begin in 2020. The couple, originally from upstate New York, are relocating to Florida to open the center, according to a statement.

Roger Clough was a superintendent of schools for 11 years, while his wife spent 25 years with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as an administrator.

“I have always been inspired by the notion that the measure of a civilization is how it treats its youngest members,” says Clough in the release. “Children should experience a learning environment that will help them grow from an infant to an adult. I feel the curriculum programs created by Discovery Point will help nurture so many children at an early age and provide them with the tools they need to succeed in the future.”

Discovery Point has 47 locations across the southeastern U.S., with centers in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. The Cape Coral center will be the 13th in Florida.
