NAPLES — Florida Community Bank opened two new branch locations last week. The new additions, located at 2400 N. Tamiami Trail and 2325 Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples, increase its branch network to 40 locations.

Florida Community Bank is a division of Premier American Bank NA, which is based in Miami. Combined, the entire Premier banking network contains 44 branches.

Through 2010, Florida Community Bank had operated independently, and was one of the Gulf Coast's largest locally headquartered banks, with $836 million in assets. But the bank failed in January, and was acquired by Premier — itself a recently failed bank that had been rejuvenated by new ownership with fresh capital. (See “Off the Shelf,” April 8.)

This spring, the new Premier American expanded again, acquiring three more failed institutions — Cortez Community Bank, First National Bank of Central Florida, and Coastal Bank — through deals with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Premier's acquisition of Coastal increased its total assets to $3.2 billion, making it one of the largest banks based in the state of Florida.
