Florida cities dominate a national list of metro areas where people are moving, a sign that the commercial real estate industry's current runway may have significant room left.
Fort Myers, Sarasota, Tampa and Lakeland are among the Gulf Coast cities on U.S. News & World Report's recent “20 Best Places People are Moving in the U.S.” Miami, Orlando and Daytona Beach also made the list for the Sunshine State.
Elsewhere, Austin, Texas; Charleston, S.C.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; and Denver were also touted as areas people are flocking toward.
Tampa was No. 18 on the list, with a 4.3% increase in in-migration between 2010 and 2014. Lakeland ranked 16th, with a 4.4% hike; and Sarasota surged by 7.67% to rank third nationwide.
Fort Myers was the magazine's top destination in the county, with a net in-migration of 9.36% between 2010 and 2014.
