FedEx Ground Package System Inc., a FedEx Corp. subsidiary that specializes in delivering packages via trucks, has renewed its lease of 62,870 square feet in Fort Myers.

The Pittsburgh-based delivery company’s deal for space in EastGroup Properties L.P.’s Suncoast Commerce Center, at 1880 Ortiz Ave., marks one of the largest industrial commitments in the Southwest Florida submarket of the past year.

Lee & Associates Inc.’s Derek Bornhorst, Jerry Messonnier and Bob Johnston negotiated the renewal.

Logistics firms and e-commerce purveyors like Amazon have been drawn to Southwest Florida in recent years because of its swelling population and job growth, which have outpaced many other locales in the U.S. over the past five years.
