SARASOTA — The Tidewell Hospice board recently added three new members — each of whom is a top official at an area hospital, according to a statement.

The new board members are:

• Kevin DiLallo, CEO of Manatee Healthcare System, which includes Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. DiLallo is also a group vice President for Universal Health Services Acute Care Division. He has been a hospital executive for more than 30 years, according to a statement, joining UHS in 1998 and leading Manatee Healthcare System since 2010;

• Dr. James Fiorica, Chief Medical Officer at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, a position he’s held since October 2017. He also oversees Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Cancer Care Program and Cancer Genetics Program and has been at the forefront of the hospital’s robotic surgery program for gynecological cancer patients and led innovative research trials; and

• Karen Fordham, CEO of Venice Regional Bayfront Health. Before joining Venice Regional Bayfront Health in August 2018, Fordham was CEO of St. Joseph Hospital and its medical group in Fort Wayne, Ind. She also was previously president and CEO at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and Detroit Surgery Hospital in the Detroit Medical Center system.

“It is critically important that Tidewell continues to strengthen its collaborations with the hospital systems in every community that we serve,” Tidewell President and CEO Jonathan Fleece says in the release. “The more that health care organizations work together to coordinate patient-centered care, the better the experience will be for patients, families and their loved ones. Tidewell is truly honored to have these health care leaders joining our board.”

Tidewell now has 17 voluntary board members. Caldwell Trust Co. Executive Vice President Jan Miller is the chairwoman. With an $82 million budget, Tidewell works with people in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte and DeSoto counties and has 535 full-time employees and nearly 1,200 volunteers.
