FORT MYERS — A Texas company, DuraServ Corp., acquired Fort Myers-based Action Automatic Door & Gate.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Action Automatic founder George Ebel IV will continue to work for the company in a marketing and consulting capacity until he retires, according to a statement. Former President and CFO Walter Sprenger has been named vice president and divisional manager, still overseeing Action Automatic's daily operations.

Farmers Branch, Texas-based DuraServ is a loading dock, door and equipment service provider. With the addition of Action Automatic's 65 full-time employees, DuraServ has over 90 skilled technicians in Florida, with locations in Fort Myers, Naples, Tampa, Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville. The company plans to expand the commercial side of Action Automatic, while integrating the company's residential service into DuraServ's existing residential and gate business, the release adds.

Action Automatic Door & Gate, with showrooms in Fort Myers and Naples, provides garage door and gate-access system installation and maintenance services for homes and commercial operations from Marco Island to Manatee County. The company was founded in 1973.

“We have received offers from a variety of companies over the years, but it was important to George that this transition be the right cultural fit for our employees,” Sprenger says in the statement. “DuraServ Corp. was the first company to match the integrity, values and culture on which Action Automatic was founded. Therefore, George is confident in DuraServ's ability to continue our standard of excellence, as well as to provide a platform for continued growth and expansion of our top-of-the-line residential and commercial services.”
