BRADENTON — Behavioral health care facility Centerstone, is investing $4 million into its hospital and addictions center in Bradenton with an ambitious goal of construction being completed later this year.
The planned renovation will expand the 24/7 access center, create new patient rooms and nurse stations in the psychiatric unit and include the addition of private rooms and meeting space within the addiction unit, the release states. The center is located at 2020 26th Ave. E.
“This renovation will further our safety efforts, expand capacity on our hospital unit and provide added comfort for patients,” CEO Melissa Larkin-Skinner says in the press release. “Our hospital was built in 1955 and over the years we have expanded accordingly to accommodate community need. These current upgrades will allow us to care for additional patients in new surroundings that are conducive to healing and will bring our total hospital bed count to 41.”
The Bishop Parker Foundation contributed $1 million for several of the planned renovations, and the William G. & Marie Selby Foundation donated $100,000 for new safety doors on the hospital unit.

The Access Center is designed to provide further stabilization, hospitalization, detox or other related inpatient service once a patient experiencing a mental health and/or addictions crisis has been assessed. According to the release, the center serves around 19,000 patients each year.
“We are proud to partner with Centerstone to enhance the vital services they provide and look forward to helping ensure mental health care is accessible, especially during these difficult times,” says Adell Erozer, the executive director of the Bishop Parker Foundation.
Currently, there are 20 psychiatric beds at Centerstone’s hospital for treating adult patients’ mental health needs, as well as 17 addiction beds. Additionally, the Bradenton campus is home to a 28-day residential addiction program that can accommodate up to 30 adults and facilities.
