TAMPA — DataMentors LLC announced that Wakefield, Mass.-based Brook Venture Partners has led an investment in the firm along with co-investors Bay Capital of Providence, R.I., and Pride's Crossing Capital of Wakefield, Mass. The Wesley Chapel company did not disclose terms of the funding.

Brook Venture Partners provides funding through its Brook Venture Fund I, Brook Venture Fund II and Brook Partner Funds I, II, and III to information- and medical-technology companies looking to expand. It targets technology companies generating revenues of between $2 million and $20 million with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of more than $1 million. Its current and past portfolio companies include IMN, Member Benefits and Relevate.

“Our investment in DataMentors is driven by the industry-leading excellence they have demonstrated in maximizing the value of data for marketing, and the profitable results they deliver to their clients,” Ned Williams, partner at Brook Venture, says in a press release. “This is an opportunity to support a great company that's ready to accelerate.”

As part of the investment, Anders Ekman, managing partner of data-based marketing company Attain Group, will become DataMentors president. Anders will lead DataMentors' sales and marketing efforts and contribute his knowledge of data-driven marketing and analytics to the DataMentors offering. Attain Group, will be absorbed into DataMentors as part of the transaction. Ekman's experience includes helping clients such as GM and the U.S. Army convert to more data-focused marketing rather than advertising-driven campaigns.
