TAMPA — CL Inc. sold Creative Loafing Tampa, an alternative weekly publication, to SouthComm Inc., a Nashville-based company. Terms of the transaction, which also included the sale of Creative Loafing Charlotte to SouthComm, were not disclosed.

CEO Marty Petty resigned in connection with the sale, a memo issued to Creative Loafing employees shows.

CL Inc. says the sale allows it to refocus its business on developing its three other publications: Chicago Reader, Creative Loafing Atlanta, and Washington City Paper.

Founded in 2007, SouthComm now owns more than 20 regional publications, including the Nashville Scene.

Creative Loafing Sarasota ceased operations in December, and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune purchased licensing rights to its name and content for one year.
