HSN launches 'Lucky 33' birthday promo, Minnelli product line
St. Petersburg-based multi-media retailer HSN will celebrate its 33rd year of operation with a major promotion with Harrah's Entertainment Inc., plus exclusively offer the product line of legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli.
In the “Lucky 33 Birthday Celebration” starting this month, HSN gift cards will be offered to select Harrah's Total Rewards members at 25 of its casino resorts nationwide plus visitors to totalrewards.com can enter the HSN $185K Birthday Giveaway instant-win game and promotion.
The Liza Collection, featuring apparel and jewelry inspired by her look and recreated from her personal archives, will debut on June 30. “As one of the most celebrated entertainers today, I am confident Liza will connect directly with customers in marrying her iconic style with their own,” said Lynne Ronon, HSN's executive vice president of merchandising, in a press release.
In July, hsn.com will conduct a sweepstakes offering 62 trips for two to Las Vegas that will include HSN shopping sprees at Harrah's Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and eight boutique kiosks, and free tickets to an HSN celebratory event on Aug. 14 (which will be shown live on HSN throughout the day) with celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck; Serious Skin Care founder Jennifer Flavin-Stallone; model, actress and jewelry designer Molly Sims; inventor and entrepreneur Joy Mangano; plus Susan Lucci, Tori Spelling, Carol Brodie, Debbie Meyer, Tony Little, Diane Gilman, Randolph Duke, and Rhonda Shear.
Sykes Enterprises opens Cairo office
Tampa-based Sykes Enterprises Inc. expanded its global delivery reach with the launch of a new 200-seat center in Cairo, Egypt, to serve clients in the United Kingdom, North Africa and France.
Chuck Sykes, president and CEO, said in a press release, “Egypt has the best of both worlds — a large and deep pool of skilled and low-cost labor that rivals the Philippines and a pivotal location [that] positions us to capitalize on the high-GDP and high-growth markets in the Gulf States for Arabic language customer support.”
Sykes provides outsourced customer contact management solutions and services.
Hindustan Aeronautics selects Aerosonic for test equipment
Clearwater-based Aerosonic Corp. has won a contract to build aerodynamic test equipment plus provide training services for the Overhaul Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.
Once it's operational, the new equipment will allow HAL to provide in-country support for many types of aircraft and will increase the demand for parts supplied by Aerosonic.
Aerosonic's test equipment of the Air Data product line is also expected to increase global support for the company's Angle of Attack sensor suite.
Along with in Clearwater, Aerosonic manufactures aviation products in Earlysville, Va.
Health Management Associates to obtain control of three hospitals
Naples-based Health Management Associates Inc. reached definitive agreement to acquire a 60% interest in three Shands HealthCare hospitals in Lake City, Live Oak and Starke by July 1.
Shands HealthCare will retain a 40% ownership interest in each facility. Altogether, the three hospitals have 139 beds and generate $100 million in annual net revenue.
Health Management will operate the hospitals, and work with local advisory boards. Following completion of the deal, the company will operate 58 hospitals nationwide with 8,500 licensed beds.
American Integrity Insurance to cover Northern Capital customers
Tampa-based American Integrity Insurance Co. will provide insurance coverage for thousands of Northern Capital Insurance Co.'s policyholders for which there will be no interruption in coverage.
Created in 2006, American Integrity specializes in providing property insurance for more than 85,000 Floridians including for manufactured homes.
Retina Health Center develops new oxygen imaging system
The Retina Health Center in Fort Myers has filed a provisional patent for a new, minimally invasive oxygen imaging system to help better understand the causes of a number of retinal disorders.
Developed by Dr. Alexander Eaton, director of the Center, and Dr. Hussein Wafapoor, uses a camera to record images of the retina and how different therapies impact tissue and blood vessel oxygen levels.
The Center is evaluating how the system may be used to treat severe vision loss or even blindness from diabetes, macular degeneration and retinal, arterial and venous occlusions.
“The system will revolutionize our understanding of retinal disorders and the way we treat patients with these diseases,” Eaton said in a press release, adding that it's “the first documented measurement of retinal oxygen values in retinal tissue, which has not been achieved before.”
The center expects to provide equipment to university and research centers for the system to be used by them later this year.
