MarineMax to acquire
Midwest retailer
MarineMax, Inc., the nation's largest recreational boat retailer, announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets, including some real estate, of Port Arrowhead Marina Inc. and its sister companies, Lake Port Marina Inc. and Port Arrowhead Inc., a Midwestern-based company also known as the Port Arrowhead Group.
Port Arrowhead's operations are in Missouri and Oklahoma, from which it also serves boating destinations in Illinois, Kansas and Arkansas.
Under the agreement, the Clearwater-based MarineMax will pay $27.5 million in cash and assume certain liabilities. The majority of the purchase price comprises the acquisition of substantial real estate holdings, consisting of a large marina with more than 300 slips and two retail stores.
Antaramian Development
begins demolition
Antaramian Development Group began demolition of Grand Central Station, a 22-acre site on the corner of Fifth Avenue South and Goodlette Frank Road in Naples. The first phase of demolition encompasses 80,000 square feet of the former shopping complex and will be completed by the end of January.
The second phase, which also encompasses 80,000 square feet, will begin in the summer but is dependent upon the completion of Naples Community Hospital's new Wellness Center. Currently, the Wellness Center is located at Grand Central Station. Once the hospital receives the certificate of occupation of its new site and relocates, then demolition of the remaining Grand Central Station building can begin.
Antaramian's vision for the site, called Renaissance Village, is an urban mix of residential and commercial uses, whose plans call for 300 luxury residences and more than 200,000 square feet of commercial space. He added that space has already been contracted for a Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery.
Global Imaging Systems
acquires Illinois firm
Tampa-based Global Imaging Systems Inc. announced it has acquired CSC Office Automation, headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Ill. CSC sells and services Ricoh and Konica Minolta copiers and other office technology solutions. CSC, with annual revenues of about $3.6 million, will operate as a part of the company's Chicago Office Technology Group.

Lake Erie College Building
wins 2005 design award
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton has won the Best All-Precast Concrete Design in the 2005 Design Awards competition sponsored by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). The $25 million, 100,000-square-foot medical teaching school was designed and built in 14 months and includes a 200-seat auditorium, two 200-seat amphitheater-style classrooms, laboratories for anatomy, microbiology/histology and osteopathic manipulative medicine classes plus a dining area and library with a two-story atrium.
The design-build team of Fawley Bryant Architects Inc. and the general contractor, NDC Construction Co., both of Bradenton, worked in concert with the project design consultant, Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Florida, and consultants Walter P. Moore Engineers and Coreslab Structures Inc., all of Tampa.
Tampa's WB 38 receives
retransmission agreement
Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. announced it has reached a multi-year retransmission consent agreement with Verizon Services Corp. providing for the analogue and digital cable carriage for television stations owned and/or operated by Sinclair in Tampa and Baltimore. The affected stations are WTTA (WB 38) in Tampa and WBFF (FOX 45) and WNUV (WB 54) in Baltimore.
Tampa and Baltimore are the initial Sinclair markets in which Verizon plans to launch its FIOS-TV service as a competitor to cable and satellite providers of television programming.

• Tampa-based Switch and Data, an exchange and neutral co-location provider, is increasing its presence in New York City. The company recently added 25,000 square feet to its facility on Eighth Avenue in New York City.
• Women's Resource Center of Sarasota County has launched its new Website: thewomensresourcenter.org.
• Spiro & Associates Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations has relocated its offices from Corporate Court in Fort Myers, where the business has been based since 1992, to 1520 Royal Palm Square Blvd., Suite 300, off Summerlin Road in Fort Myers.
At 4,100 square feet, the new third-story corner office has 1,500 more square feet than at the company's previous address.
