LAKEWOOD RANCH — Sarasota-based medical supply company Mercedes Medical broke ground on its 60,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Lakewood Ranch.
The headquarters will be in the CORE development in Lakewood Ranch, a 305-acre biotech industrial district. CORE stands for Collaboration Opportunities for Research and Exploration. It will include office space, retail, restaurants and outdoor activity areas.
According to a press release, Mercedes Medical purchased the 5-acre parcel the headquarters will be built on for $900,000.
The company is currently operating out of three buildings in Commerce Park in Sarasota. It recently sold two of the properties for $1,695,000 and $426,500 to the Asolo Repertory Theater and is leasing the third building.
The new headquarters will allow the company to expand operations and bring everything under one roof, including warehouse, distribution and corporate offices, a statement says.
Mercedes expects construction to be compete in spring 2019.
