ST. PETERSBURG — Galen College of Nursing is growing its presence in the Tampa region, with a 26,026-square-foot expansion of its St. Petersburg campus.

The school will soon be the largest tenant in Arrow Point Plaza, at 10200 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N., according to a statement, where it will occupy 95,164 square feet of the 97,340-square-foot office building.

Operating for 30 years, Galen College of Nursing is the largest educator of nurses in the South, according to the statement. With over 1,600 students at the Tampa Bay campus, Galen graduates over 150 future nurses four times every year. The college offers practical nursing, associate, baccalaureate and master degree nursing programs to over 6,000 students across five ground campus locations and its online campus, the release adds. The College recently opened a new campus at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg.

“As baby boomers age, the need for qualified health care professionals grows. This is compounded by the limited student capacity at many nursing schools, as well as Florida’s growing population,” Galen College of Nursing CEO Mark Vogt says in the release. “This expansion in St. Petersburg will allow us to continue to grow and evolve programs and services that support student success in nursing education and our partners in health care.”

Galen moved to the Arrow Point Plaza in August 2018 and took over 69,138 square feet of space. Plans are currently underway to renovate the 26,000 square feet of new space, expected to be completed in summer 2020.

Claire Calzon and Joanne Leblanc of Colliers International Tampa Bay represented the landlord, Arrow Point Plaza LLC. Katie Trott and Jimmy Johnson of Foundry Commercial represented Galen College of Nursing.

“This location is perfect for an institution like Galen because it is easily accessible from Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater,” says Calzon, Executive Managing Director, Colliers International Tampa Bay, in the statement. “The owners completed an extensive renovation prior to their move in in 2018, creating an ultra-modern contemporary space for the school to call home.”
