The Sarasota Chamber of Commerce has named finalists for its annual Small Business Awards, and at least one of the three candidates for Small Business of the Year should be familiar to regular readers of the Review.

Veterinary Neuro Services LLC is owned and operated by Dr. Anne Chauvet, the subject of an “Entrepreneurs to Watch” story published in a May 2009 issue of the Gulf Coast Business Review.

VNS is an animal-based neurology and neurosurgery practice that sees about 700 patients a year. That translates to revenues of more than $1 million, as reported in “Animal Attraction.”

Other former Review story subjects up for awards include Willis A. Smith Construction, a finalist for the “Think Green” category (featured in June 2009's “Green Scene”), and Sunovia Energy Technologies, a finalist in the category of “Technology & Innovation (from December 2009's “Power Up”).

A full listing of the finalists in each category is available at the Sarasota Chamber's website.
