FORT MYERS — Carrera Sports International signed a distribution deal with Venezuela-based Columbus Sport 99 for 4,000 bats and 16,000 balls.

Carrera Sports manufactures baseball bats and other products for professional and amateur players. Robert Coello, a relief pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, and his sister, Barbara Rodriguez, own the Fort Myers-based company.

Under the deal, Columbus Sport 99 will be the exclusive distributor of Carrera Sports products in Venezuela for three years. Terms were not disclosed.

“Carrera bats are in batting cages at all levels of play,” Rodriguez, Carrera's CEO, says in a statement. The company says the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians and other professional teams are now purchasing Carrera training bats.
